In Battlefield 1942 you fight World War II's historic battles when the Axis Powers met the Allies in different parts of the world. Unreal Tournament (Uber-Demo) contains six levels (including one not seen in the previous 3dfx-only demo), multiple game types, and an unrelenting 3D-action experience.

The developer's goal with this game was to create humanesque opponents that would challenge the player in a variety of different contests, providing the nonstop adrenaline-pumping experience of online multiplayer games, whether the player is online or not. There are four major game types: Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Assault, and Domination. Assault is an objective-based team game, where one team plays defense and one team plays offense. For however long the defending team can keep the attacking team from meeting its objective (such as taking over a speeding train), it gets the same amount of time to play on offense. If it can achieve the goal faster than the team it defended against, it wins.

In Domination, the idea is to control points on a map, called domination points: Each time you run over a domination point, it turns to the color of your team. Capture the Flag is a pretty straightforward team-based game, and Deathmatch can be played with everyone for themselves or on teams. Domination and Team Deathmatch can be played by up to four teams.

This updated version of the Unreal Tournament Demo fixes several playability issues and bugs related with the previous version.

This connect-the-critters game will captivate players of all ages. Like other puzzle games, the rules for Snood are simple, and the only computer skill needed is the ability to use a mouse. Connect three or more identical Snoods to make them disappear from the board. If you clear the board, you win. If the Snoods reach the bottom of the screen, you lose. Play is not time-limited. Add to that a nonviolent spirit and you will see why even little kids can play it. The game's hundreds of levels and innumerable customizable ones will retain your interest. Elasto Mania purports to be a motorbike simulator arcade game. The arcade qualities are immediately evident, as low-resolution graphics suggest a release date circa 1986. The controls are simple to learn, yet difficult to master. Four arrow keys accelerate, brake, lean forward, and lean backward, while the spacebar switches the biker's direction in a 2D universe.

The simulation aspects of the game become clearer once you actually try to ride the bike. Because the back wheel is attached by an elastic band, the physical effects on the motorcycle are dramatic. Accelerate too fast and you'll flip backward. Brake too quickly and you'll fall forward. This elastic twist makes it quite difficult to collect apples, avoid obstacles, and reach the white flower in the fastest time possible, but a few minutes on Warm Up will have most gamers competent enough to enjoy the game. And at 2 in the morning, as you try to get past the Loop-de-Loop for the 56th time, you'll realize all too well the addictive nature of the Elasto Mania gameplay. A global community of rabid fans has created tons of new levels and graphics for gamers who register for the full version.

Rather than messing with a good thing, THQ ported the Xbox version of MotoGP 2 to the PC exactly a -is, meaning no mouse support, minimal video customization, and no integrated control settings or help. While it’s frustrating that you have to exit the game every time you need to reconfigure the controls, the game's racing action makes up for any setup difficulties.

Although spectators appear as 2D walls instead of an actual crowd, the rest of the game features superb graphics. In the spectacular crashes the screen shakes, the controller rumbles, and your driver and bike are tossed like rag dolls. Racing the bike is intuitive and easily learned. MotoGP 2 promises speeds of 180 mph, but had no problem cranking the fast bikes up to 300 mph, a blessing for thrill seekers. Since it was designed for a console, a game controller (ideally with two analog sticks: one for driving the bike, the other for leaning the driver) works much better than the keyboard. In a genre desperate for new blood, MotoGP 2 gives PC racing gamers a blast of pure adrenaline.

This top-down space shooter includes multiplayer network play and high-resolution 3D graphics. You got chocolate in my peanut butter! Not surprisingly, the result is a mixed bag. The game looks outstanding, but the minimum requirements are definitely the minimum, and multiplayer fun depends on building a community of online players.

In the fairly simple gameplay, players select spacecrafts and customize them with primary and secondary weapons, as well as power-ups that depend on each ship’s available carrying load. Smaller, faster ships have less firepower, while the big fighters are much less mobile. After selecting ships and a playing map (the demo includes three), combatants head into battle in an attempt to destroy their opponents (Dogfight and Team Fight modes) or beat them to the finish line (Race mode). An adequate blend of mouse (aiming and firing) and keyboard (steering) suffices for controls. With most ships practically equal, flying well is essential to success. For gamers with decent PC power and a yen for old-school gameplay, Rymdraket might become your next Net habit.

The big, green, and mean Hulk demo weighs in at a hefty 168MB and requires some higher-end processing and video support. Unfortunately, while the demo shows off the impressive graphics and animation and gives a good sense of how gameplay works, the available level is a bit too short to satiate those of us who’ve got the patience for the beefy download, making it likely to be attractive only to those with plenty of CPU, disk space, and a darn fast connection.
In this 3D action fighter you fight a stream of soldiers in a gas station and then face off a tank. The Hulk's various punches and gamma (i.e., shooting) moves work in combination with directional movements and each other, so a controller works better than the keyboard. Be forewarned of the limited play, but give it a shot if you’ve got the requirements and a patient demeanor (yet still like to smash stuff).
